🏁 Please, don’t be competitive · The Bunker #20

In this post, I will discuss the issue of being competitive in the design world and how it will not help you on your journey.

Let’s get started!

At least in Spain we have always been taught that to succeed in life you have to be very competitive and work like nobody else.

From a very young age we have been taught that if you don't work, you are nobody.

In my opinion, this thinking is completely wrong. Work builds achievement, and talent without work is nothing. I completely agree.

But, what no one realizes, is that two people can be successful together. Growing together is a reality. You don't have the absolute truth, and the wonderful thing about design is that everyone has their own reality, their own point of view, and learning from others is what will allow you to grow as a professional.

⛑In design, there is nothing better than learning from another designer and letting them help you.

The reality is that you can both succeed, grow and be better people together without stepping on anyone's toes.

Be more grateful, show your interest in learning and don't take everything so much to heart.

☁Being competitive is beneficial; it will also aid in your growth. Remember to keep your head in the clouds but your feet on the ground; this will help you realise that you are not alone and that you must take action to stand out from the crowd. This is not to say that you must only do this; when two excellent people compliment each other, you both learn a lot.

⚡If you are friends with a fantastic designer, and you both help each other, you will both become extremely powerful.

Cheers, Jordi Espinosa.
