Hey everyone.
Today is a very special day for me.
This is the first post I'm making after officially launching my first book 🥳🎉
So, to celebrate, I'm leaving a gift at the end of this post EXCLUSIVELYfor The Bunker readers.
I've been wanting to write this book for a while because it's probably one of the things you've been asking me about the most over the years.
The book is called "From $0 to $10,000 on a client project with only 10,000 followers on Instagram."
I think the title is pretty self-explanatory. Yes, it's reality, it's something that happened, and it's something I thought I should share with you.
More than anything because what I explain in this book is nothing new; we haven't reinvented the wheel. I'm simply sharing the things that have worked for me over time so that you don't make the same mistakes.
The internet has all the answers to your questions. The thing is, there's so much information and so many things that obviously different things work for each person.
So, to celebrate:
- I'm giving you a code to buy the book at a 50% discount. (You’ll find it at the end of the article).
- I'm giving you a first chapter completely free so you can see what to expect inside.
So, I hope you love it. Here's the chapter.
Followers vs Earnings
I have no problem saying it openly, but one of the reasons I decided to strongly bet on social media was because of the benefit it could generate for me.
And this is obvious: I have always liked learning, but above all, I love teaching.
I love teaching those pieces of knowledge that I have learned over time to people who are just starting, so they can overcome the obstacles they encounter more easily, or at least avoid them before they encounter them.
I knew that if I wanted to dedicate a good part of my time to this, it was clear that I had to extract a benefit from it, otherwise, I would have to look for another job and wouldn’t be able to dedicate the time I would like. If you extract a benefit, then you can dedicate yourself to it and therefore be able to spend more time on it, it’s logical, right?
So when you move from doing something for pure fun to something for fun but with monetization strategies, it automatically becomes a business.
And like any business, it needs to be profitable.
One of the mistakes I encountered was that for my business to be profitable, I needed a large audience, the more people, the more money, right? But reality is not entirely like that.
It is true that the more people you target, the more potential customers you can have, but it's really not necessary to have a large following to achieve a profitable business.
By selling a product for 200 to 10 people, you already have a good business. A 1,000€ course to 3 people a month, you already have a good business.
When you grow an audience, what is thought at the beginning is:
- Create valuable content
- Gain followers
Create content that adds value and then this will automatically attract followers.
This is true, but we are focusing on the wrong metric. Focusing on the total number is a mistake, you have to focus on quality followers.
Who are those of quality? Well, those who:
- Post a tweet, and they reply, do RT. They send you a DM congratulating you, asking you things.
- Post a post and they send you a question.
- Post a story and they like the story, and even interact with that story. If it's a QA then a QA, if it's a survey, then a survey.
- Those who buy previous products.
- Those who download your free content.
In short, those who interact with the content you post and you know well that if you post a paid product in the store, they will buy it.
A normal account, with 1,000 followers, probably has 10 or 15 quality followers, or sometimes not even that. And it's normal, because that's not what you've been looking for when uploading the content.
When you have a smaller follower base, you can interact more personally and directly with each of them. This level of interaction creates a solid community and deep relationships.
The content you post has to provide the maximum possible value, the more value it has (for free), the more you will attract that audience.
Why do I say for free? This is a super important section, you can't ask if you haven't given first.
Especially those who are starting focus a lot on wanting to make money quickly, at the very beginning, and it doesn't work quite like that. Just as we understand that a YouTube channel doesn't monetize from minute 1, because you need views, you need content, you need time until you can unlock Adsense, then keep creating and creating until the views grow, and we know that for the channel to reach enough views to be able to live off it, it takes time and effort.
Well, this works the same way, we can't ask to make money and focus on making money from the very beginning.
The time you can spend writing a book, creating a course, etc... dedicate it to creating the highest quality content.
First, you give the highest quality content possible, you demonstrate what you are capable of and then when you are ready and have provided the maximum possible free content of value, then you ask for money.
By providing the highest content of value and for free, you will have created a sort of "knowledge portfolio", something like: "This is everything Espinosa knows, this is everything he can bring you", and in this way, you will build credibility for your buyers, the day you have to upload something premium they will know what they can expect inside: Maximum quality content.
Simple steps:
- Before asking for money, offer the maximum possible value for free.
- Build quality followers
Why did you buy this eBook that you are reading right now?
Reason n1: Probably because you were already following me, I already have a certain credibility and image and you know that what I can transmit to you is of good quality.
Reason n2: This topic is interesting to you and is explained by someone who has been able to do
what you want to do.
Value content, something that is always mentioned, but nobody really explains what it is or how to do it:
Offering Resonating Value
Understanding and addressing the specific needs of your audience is crucial. This is the quality we seek in content.
We identify a problem in the audience, it can be a problem that originally arose for you and you think that your audience can have it too (often our audience is a novice version of ourselves).
The important thing is that you are super specific, you have to be as concrete as possible.
I give you 2 examples:
- Instead of making a post that says: Top 3 hero sections for your landing pages.
- Do: Top 3 hero sections strategically curated for converting landing pages.
How many creators are making posts related to "top 5 fonts, top 3 websites"? Too many designers creating too generic content.
There are some who focus on SEO, others who focus on the strategy of the landing pages themselves, some focus on the pricing tables converting correctly and specialize in making conversion models based on user psychology or behavior. The geekier and more specific you are, the more specific your content can be and the more specific audience you can deliver this value to.
That's why everyone always mentions that the niche is important.
You know that I find the niche boring, but still, try to look for content that is more specific like the example I gave you earlier.
As a little trick: Every time I make content, I pass 2 filters. If my content passes 1 of these 2 aspects, the content I have shared, adds value:
- After consuming the content, the user can make more money.
- After consuming the content, the user has learned something new that they didn't know.
If we achieve these 2, the post we are going to upload is valuable.
And no, it's not that easy, it sounds easier than it seems. Especially when it comes to getting new ideas. That's why, something that I follow that serves me as a guide to create content of maximum quality, is thinking:
- What would I like to consume myself?
- What would I have liked to learn when I was starting?
As I mentioned earlier, your followers are really your more novice version of you. They are literally you when you were starting.
Every time I need a new video, new post or whatever I think: What would my younger self consume? What I’d like to consume if I had to start again? What I’d like to consume nowadays if I go to YouTube?
