Perhaps you're just starting out, you're a developer, or simply someone who might not have any design knowledge. Let me tell you that the trick to make a design look "cool" is determined 90% of the time by a good choice of typography and color combination.
Of course, there are other factors at play, but 90% of it is always typography and color. If you have that, you've got most of it covered.
In this example, which of the two do you like more?
And we're not going to get into what's right and what's wrong.
But a small difference in colors and typography can change everything radically.
Do you want another example?
Same typography, same composition, but a change in colors. (If you're colorblind, you might be seeing the colors in this last example as the same, I apologize).
If you look closely, the decision to:
- Use large dimensions, a large typography composition.
- This type of typography.
Can work well with almost any color combination you choose. In this last example, you can see how black looks better on yellow, ideally with the yellow being slightly more saturated and darker for added personality.
As you can see, it's the small decisions that can radically alter our designs, and these small decisions differentiate between the good and not-so-good designers or those with more experience compared to beginners.
So, in today's post, I bring you 4 typography options that are likely to make your designs look better, and more professional. Again, this is just one part, and there are other elements to consider. But if you want to create something simple or understand the tricks behind why a design looks good or bad sometimes, many times it's because of:
- Content that's too large; always try to make things smaller for a more delicate appearance, showing a sense of intentional design. Sometimes, if things are too large without clear intent, it can seem like you lack a good sense of design.
- Good typography choices.
- Good color combinations.
With that said, I'm sharing my 4 favorite typography options that should help you tackle a variety of projects:
I hope you've enjoyed it.
Until next time! 👋🏻
