I don't want to sound pessimistic or anything like that, but 2023 is coming to an end; technically, there's only one week left for 2023 to be completely over.

Doing a bit of a recap, this year, I've done many, many things. I'm happy about it because everything I've been doing has been pushing me a bit closer to my goals.

It's true that in 2023, I've focused a lot on my professional aspect, put a lot of emphasis on work, and really paid little attention to the personal level.

I am clear that in 2024, it will be the year to:

  1. Work on my personal habits.
  2. Work on Naztek UI.

In this post, we'll talk about personal habits, and if it's okay with you, we'll talk about Naztek in the next episode.

📚 Reading books

Honestly, I've barely finished a book in my life. And I genuinely think I've been missing out on a lot of content and things to learn. Surely, not wanting to read books comes from school when they forced me to read things I wasn't interested in, and I ended up hating books.

In the end, I thought that everything I could read, I could consume through a video visually.

And honestly, even today, I still think that way, but I also believe that if people keep recommending certain books, there must be a reason. So this year, I'm clear that I'll start reading:

  1. Deep Work
  2. Atomic Habits

These two books will be where I start. Once I've read these books, I'll evaluate whether it's worth continuing the habit of reading or not. But at least I want to give it a try to form an opinion with a basis.

🎧 Deep Work

This year has been full of work, and work ultimately involves a lot of organization and many hours sitting in a chair.

This year, I've learned to organize myself better; I still have to find the perfect formula, but at least I've been able to set up a system in which I feel comfortable working.

I'll leave it here in case you want to use it too.

This year, with all the work I had to do, I realized the power of deep work:

When we have 8 hours to do a design, we actually take those 8 hours to do the design, when in reality, 1 hour would have been enough.

So, this year, I decided to go for the concept of time blocking and reserve certain hours to work super concentrated during those hours.

⚡ Practice more

I come from a past of creating a lot of content. I had to focus a lot on preparing posts to deliver to my audience, to the point where I almost forgot about the practical side of all this.

So, in 2023, I focused on developing Naztek UI and creating Webflow templates. This has allowed me to upload much more content, not only educational but also designs for my portfolio.

I am clear that content creation is what I want, but I never want to stop getting my hands dirty.

It's good to share content with your audience, but never stop practicing, as that's what will truly make you a good designer.

Sounds like you have a clear plan for 2024! In summary, you'll be:

  1. Reading a lot.
  2. Practicing a lot.
  3. Making better use of your time.

It's a great approach to personal and professional development.

Best of luck in achieving your goals and making the most out of the coming year!

If you are interested on making a living with Content Creation, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve recently release my book: From $0 to $10.000 on client projects with only 10.000 followers on Instagram”. Check it out
